The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, and all Health & Safety Policies, requires that all electrical systems and appliances must be tested annually to prevent danger within the workplace.

It is the responsibility of the employers to ensure hat no danger results from the use of such equipment. The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 explains that the following equipment categories should be tested:

• Equipment Appliances which are used by employees
  
• Equipment appliances that are repaired or serviced
  
• Equipment appliances that have been supplied or hired
